Low Fired Vase "Ningaloo"

Low Fired Vase "Ningaloo"

$780.00 AUD

A beautifully rounded vase featuring layered rustic textures and a flowing green glaze. Its organic finish adds warmth and character to any interior space.

Sagger Firing is another alternative firing technique where the pot is enclosed in another pot or wrapped in clay or aluminum foil and then fired. Various “combustibles” can be placed inside the sagger and in close contact with the vessel. These combustibles burn off inside their container and leave their marks and colours on the pot. Every vessel is different depending on the combustibles used and the way they react to the fire and clay.

Meet the Maker
Jacqui Sosnowski. Lives in Mullumbimby, NSW Australia. After becoming dissatisfied with the glossy look of conventional glazes while studying for her Diploma in Visual Art at TAFE, Jacqui Sosnowski began experimenting with alternative methods of firing. Her eastern European heritage led her to investigate the little know field of Obvara firing (a Twelfth Century Baltic technique) and other methods such as Raku and sagger which she has been now practising for over 10 years. She now offers workshops in these methods and has become known as “Obvara wan Kenobe” for her mastery of the obvara technique. No two pieces Jacqui produces are ever the same lending her work a unique perspective. SOSCERAMICS
