Obvara Vase
This tall, slender vase features warm brown tones at the base that fade into a crisp white top. Its elegant shape and earthy colours make it perfect for adding height and texture to any space.
Obvara is a 12th Century raku firing technique using only fermented flour, water, milk or beer. It was developed in the Baltic region of Eastern Europe (Latvia, Lithuania, Ukrainia, Belarus) when a vessel was probably standing by a fire and then rolled into a slops bucket containing fermented waste. It is credited with having properties which help preserve food from insects and to keep food cooked in an obvara pot warmer and also cooler.
